India T20 Squad WI Tour: T20 World Cup: Virat Kohli is one of the notable players, who have ben rested from the India T20 squad for West Indies. With the T20 World Cup few months down the line, it is a huge call from the BCCI selectors. But it might have opened the doors for Deepak Hooda in the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. Hooda has been one of the in-form players for India of late, and it is a golden opportunity to punch his ticket for the T20 World Cup. Follow India tour of West Indies updates with InsideSport.IN

Hooda’s last three scores in the international cricket reads 47, 104 and 33. It is not about the amount of runs he has put on the board, but the confidence with which he has batted is something else. It is the opposite with Kohli, who has scores of 1 and 11 in his last two innings. Even his performance in the IPL does not give a good account of Kohli.

Though one cannot compare Kohli with Hooda, the latter has made a huge impact in the last few matches when he walked into bat. Having said that Hooda cannot be picked easily ahead of Kohli, especially in a competition like T20 World Cup.

It is at this juncture that the five-match series against West Indies in the shorter format could come handy for Hooda. It gives the selectors a good amount of matches to figure out his consistency and his approach. If the player scores big runs against West Indies, the call for his inclusion in the playing XI for all T20 matches for India will get louder.

Even after that if the management decides to pick Kohli ahead of Hooda in the playing XI for future matches, including the Asia Cup, the former India captain will be under further pressure.
