Singapore Open Badminton LIVE –  India’s ace shuttlers PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy are all eyeing a spot in the semifinals of the Singapore Open as they will be in action in the quarterfinals of the BWF 500 tournament on Friday, 15th July 2022. Sindhu will be facing China’s Hay Yue in the last-eight, while Saina Nehwal will be up against Japan’s Aya Ohori. HS Prannoy vs Kodai Naraoka

In-form HS Prannoy entered the quarterfinals after defeating World No.4 Chou Tien-chen for the second time in two weeks. The World No.19 is looking to make his fourth appearance in a semifinal this year. His best performance is a runner-up finish at Swiss Open and he is now eyeing his maiden title. He takes on Japan’s unseeded Kodai Naraoka in the quarterfinal.

Naraoka stunned fifth seed Jonatan Christie in the second round to enter the quarterfinal. The World No.43 is now eyeing a similar performance against Prannoy. Naraoka’s best performance this year is reaching the final at the Korea Masters. This will be the first meeting between both the players .

PV Sindhu vs Han Yue 

Indian Olympic medalist PV Sindhu had a tough contest against the lesser-known Nguyen Thuy Linh in the second round as she won the match in three sets. She will aim for a much better performance in the upcoming contest as she faces China’s Han Yue. Han Yue defeated India’s Ashmitha Chaliha in straight sets to reach the quarterfinal.

This will be the third meeting between both the players and Sindhu has won both the previous contests. They last met in 2019 at the Japan Open with Sindhu winning the match in straight sets.

Saina Nehwal vs Aya Ohori 

Saina Nehwal has reached the quarterfinals for the first time in a tournament this year. Nehwal stunned fifth seed He Bingjiao in three games in the second round to set up clash with Japan’s Ay Ohori in the quarterfinals. Ohori meanwhile defeated Sung Shuo-yun and 22-20, 18-21, 4-21 in the second round.

This will be the second meeting between both the players and Ohori leads the head-to-head record 1-0. They last met in 2021 at the Denmark Open with Ohori winning the match in straight sets.

Doubles

In the Men’s Doubles, India’s Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun clinched an upset victory over Malaysia’s sixth seeded pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin in the second round. They have now entered the quarterfinal and will face the second seeded Indonesian pair Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan.
