IPL 2023 Live Streaming: IPL 2023 Viacom18: With Viacom18 acquiring IPL digital rights, the quality of live streaming is about change drastically. For the first time in the Indian sports landscape, IPL 2023 matches will be live-streamed in 4K or ultra-high-definition. Through Jio 5G, which will be launched on Diwali, Viacom18 will be able to not live-stream the match in multiple camera angles. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates on InsdeSport.IN.

At 45th Reliance Industries AGM, Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio and also owner of Mumbai Indians, said the IPL 2023 matches will be an interactive live stream. That means, viewers can select one particular camera angle during the live stream and watch the match or a particular shot.

“Because of the gigabit speed of JioAir Fiber, we can now deliver not only one video stream but multiple video streams showing multiple camera angles at the same time live. That too in ultra-high-definition (4K). We can dynamically choose which camera angle we want to focus on while having a preview of multiple live video streams simultaneously. It makes all the sports truly immersive,” Akash Ambani said at RIL AGM on Monday.

What is JioAir Fiber? It is the fancy name of Jio 5G, the 5th generation mobile or wireless network standard. 5G technology promises up to or in some cases more than 1GBPS wireless internet speed. That means one would not need to get wired connection.

5G-enabled devices can take advantage of high-speed internet connectivity to stream multiple videos at the same time. The low latency or wait time also reduces significantly than 4G.

Reliance Jio also launched 5G enabled JioAir Fiber devices that will connect wirelessly to 5G network and work as a router for home devices.

How is it going to help IPL 2023 Live Streaming?

  • So far, sports broadcasting and streaming have been done on Standard Definition (480p) and High-Definition (720p, 1080p).
  • Viacom18 through Jio 5G aims to change that.
  • For the first time ever in India, live sports will be delivered on 4K (Ultra-High-Definition).
  • Mobile, TVs and tablets and screens that have 4K resolution can watch live sports on 4K.
  • The current generation of wireless network also prevented high bandwidth of data transfer.
  • That means it was limited to a maximum of 100MBPS.
  • With 5G, the speed will be more than 1GBPS. It will help transmit data at a rapid speed, and stream and connect multiple videos simultaneously.
  • As Viacom18 holds the digital rights of IPL 2023-27, it will offer multi-camera live-stream simultaneously through 5G technology.
  • With that, viewers can choose a particular angle of a shot during LIVE streaming.
  • Currently, BT Sport provides 4K Live Streaming and Live telecast of the Premier League matches.
  • In the US, all live sporting events are broadcast and live-streamed live on Fox Sports Network.
