Men 1500m final

The race for the 1500m gold in the men’s competition is intense. It could be anybody’s game, including Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Abel Kipsang, Jake Wightman, Samuel Tefera among others. In fact, Kipsang has impressed this year with the season’s best as well, clocking 3:31.01.

If one looks at their semifinals timing, it is Kipsang, who set the pace with a 3:33.68 runs while Wightman also impressed with the third best timing in the semis. It is the performance in the final, which counts the most. And all the 13 finalists on July 19 will be eager to deliver their A game to walk away with the gold.

Best three timings in semifinals

  • Abel Kipsang – 3:33.68
  • Mohhammed Katir – 3:34.45
  • Jake Wightman – 3:34.48

However, Ingebrigsten did not achieve a great timing, 11th fastest, but the runner is sure to get at his best in the final. Ingebrigsten has won several golds, including the Olympics, in the event, but it is the World Championship gold that is missing from the cabinet. That will spur him on against some of the elite athletes in the event.

Men’s 1500 final schedule

Date: 19 July (20 July)

Time: 7:30 pm local time (8 AM IST)

Women’s 200m semifinal

After breaking the Championships record in the women’s 100m, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will have her eyes on the gold in the 200m as well. One does not expect her to go all out on July 19 as it is the semifinal. Her focus will be to achieve a good timing and gear up for the finals. However, it becomes equally important to build momentum ahead of the final.

Fellow Jamaican Shericka Jackson will be in focus with the athlete having achieved an impressive 21.55, best timing of the year. The Jamaicans are always strong in sprint events, but the US athletes, including Abby Steiner and Tamara Clark among others will be eager to showcase their talent and speed.

Women’s 200m semifinal

Date: 19 July (20 July)

Time: 6:05 pm local time (6:35 AM IST)

Men’s 200m semifinal

As expected it was Noah Lyles and Erriyon Knighton, who were the fastest two sprinters in the 200m heats. The two Americans have been quite impressive this season with the duo enjoying the best two times of the year. However, it will be interesting to see how another American and 100m gold medallist Fred Kerley fares in the event. The trio is expected to make it to the finals without much problem.

Elsewhere, it is the likes of Jamaican Yohan Blake, who failed to make it to the finals of the 100m, will hope for a better show in the 200m. But the chances are bleak with a host of inform runners in fray to make it to the final round. He only has the 19th best time in the heats.
