The Indian ace had picked up the injury in the World Championships at Eugene in the USA last month.
During the time, it was said that the athlete will need atleast a months’ time to recover. Even we go by that, it might be difficult to see him gain fitness and feature in the Diamond League.

Lausanne Diamond League: Neeraj Chopra starts light training but final call on javelin thrower’s participation to be taken soon

But, it is important to note that the report suggest Neeraj has started light training in Germany. His coach Dr Klaus Bartonietz and physio is also present in the European country and are keeping close tab on the progress. They would need some time to figure out if his body will be fit to compete.

Neeraj and his team is aware of the fact that there is no point of forcing the thrower to feature in the competition. With the competition expected to be top notch in Lausanne, even a 80-90 percent fit Neeraj does not sound ideal. He needs to be on top of his fitness routine to travel.

The entry list for the Lausanne Diamond League includes nine athletes, including Neeraj Chopra. Other top throwers like Jakub Vadlejch Keshorn Walcott, Julian Weber among others are set to compete.

If the Indian gives the event a miss, he will be missing some vital points, which makes it a tough call for Neeraj as well.

However, there will be Indian participation with Avinash Sable set to feature in the Men’s 3000m steeplechase in a strong field of competitors.
