ENG Playing XI: With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, England are taking a safe approach by not rushing their superstars back into action. In that case, captain Jos Buttler misses out with Moeen Ali leading the side for the first T20I. Moeen will be without the services of several teammates with Chris Woakes and Mark Wood also unavailable for selection in the first T20I. Reece Topley is also ruled out of the match with an ankle niggle.

Phil Salt will replace Jos Buttler at the top of the order and keep wickets for the first time in T20Is. Salt is a natural keeper but has never been behind the stumps with Buttler and Bairstow always available. The young English star will open with the returning Alex Hales, who marks his return to the England set-up after three years.

Dawid Malan is also an option to open the batting and could do so at the World Cup later this year, meaning there is likely to be a lot of flexibility and decision-making in terms of matchups. Harry Brook will keep his place in the middle order while one of Will Jacks or Ben Duckett would slot into the XI. Jacks was in sublime form during The Hundred and could slot in straight at No.4.

Sam Curran and Moeen Ali will dovetail with all-round duties, while David Willey will be expected to add further depth to the batting. Adil Rashid is back and will lead the spin contingent, while Richard Gleeson will take over death bowling duties. Luke Wood, who had an impressive record at The Hundred will fight for a place in the side with Olly Stone.
