Malaysia Masters Badminton LIVE: Prannoy vs Ng Ka Long LIVE – India’s HS Prannoy is now the only remaining singles player from the country to still stay alive at the Malaysia Masters. The 29-year old World No.19 faces eighth seed Angus Ng-ka Long in the semifinals on Saturday. Prannoy clinched a hard-fought victory in straight sets against Kanta Tsuneyama in the quarterfinals, while Long defeated World No.4 Chou-tien Chen in three games to enter the semifinal.   • Prannoy has been on a fine-run this year, the former top-10 player is looking to break his five-year title drought and in the upcoming contest carries the hope of the nation, as he is the lone survivor in the tournament.
  • He has entered his third semifinal this year and looks to get his first title victory of the year.
  • He started the year by making three back-to-back quarterfinal exits at the Indian Open, Syed Modi International and the German Open.
  • He then faced a humiliating first round defeat at All England Championship against Thailand’s Kunlavudt Vitidsarn.
  • He came very close to winning his maiden title this year at the Swiss Open, but lost the final to Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie.
  • In the Thomas Cup, he displayed outstanding form by remaining unbeaten in the tournament and was one of the pillars behind India’s victory.
  • After a first round exit at Thailand Open, he bowed out from the semifinals at Indonesia Open.
  • Before the Malaysian Masters, he made it to the quarterfinals at Malaysia Open. He is yet to drop a game at the Malaysia Masters and is in terrific form at the moment.

  • 1st Round: Defeated Brice Leverdez – 21-19, 21-14
  • 2nd Round: Defeated Wang Tzu-wei – 21-19, 21-16
  • Quarterfinals: Defeated Kante Tsunayama – 25-23, 22-20

  • Meanwhile, Angus Ng Ka Long has made it to his maiden semi-final appearance this year.
  • He crashed out from the first round at German Open and then bowed out from the second round at the All England Championships.
  • He made it to the quarterfinals at the Indonesian Masters and faced straight game defeat against Viktor Axelsen.
  • At the Indonesia Open, he bowed out from the second round after losing to HS Prannoy in straight sets.
  • He yet again lost to World No.2 Kento Momota at the Malaysian Open last week and made second round exit from the tournament.
  • He has shown great form at the Malaysian Masters by defeating opponents like Malaysia’s Liew Draen and World No.4 Chou-tien Chen to make it to the semifinal for the first time.

  • 1st Round: Defeated Liew Daren- 21-17, 21-15
  • 2nd Round: Defeated Mark Caliouw – 21-11, 21-5
  • Quarterfinals: Defeated Chou Tien-chen- 13-21, 21-12, 21-13

Prannoy vs Ng Ka Long Head-to-Head: Both the players will play against each other for the ninth time. Both of them have won four games each. They last met this year at the Indonesian Open with Prannoy winning the match in straight games. Based on current form, Prannoy is yet again expected to get the victory but Ng Ka Long is entering into the contest after clinching a upset victory over World No.4 Chou Tien Chen, so he is expected to give a tough fight against the Indian.
