F1 British GP FP2 LIVE: FP2 session of the British Grand Prix will start shortly: The tenth round of the F1 2022 season started on a low note as rain played the spoilsport at the iconic Silverstone circuit as the FP1 session saw a downpour. Meanwhile, ten drivers missed out on setting a lap time as Valtteri Bottas took home his first FP1 session of the season. Valtteri Bottas after suffering two back-to-back difficult results in Baku and Canada showed great signs of improvement at the Silverstone circuit. He took home his first practice session of the season as he clocked the fastest lap time for the FP1 session. In the dying stages of the FP1 session, Lewis Hamilton didn’t disappoint the home fans he went on to take the second spot overall.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz is having a great run of form as he claimed the second spot in Montreal and for a portion was leading the FP1 session but had to settle for the third spot overall. The Spanish driver was followed by his teammate Charles Leclerc in the fourth spot as both Ferrari and Mercedes showed great improvements overall.

Moreover, Haas’ Mick Schumacher also had a great day in the office as he finished fifth overall. The German was followed by Alfa Romeo’s Guanyu Zhou in the sixth spot as the Chinese driver looked comfortable out on a rainy Silverstone track.

Kevin Magnussen also had a good outing today as he claimed the seventh spot, with Haas seeing both their drivers in the top ten. Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll finished eighth but in the dying stages of the FP1 session, he lost his grip on the tyres and went onto the gravel. Thankfully, for Aston Martin, Stroll didn’t do any damage to his car.

AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, who once was in the top three dropped down positions and finished ninth overall. He was followed by the veteran driver Sebastian Vettel in the tenth spot.

Furthermore, there were ten drivers who failed to clock their best lap time as rain for the major portion of the session kept on falling heavily. When the track was empty the seven-time F1 champion Hamilton came out of his garage and waved to the fans who were present at the iconic circuit.

The ten drivers who missed out included some big names and they are George Russell, Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso, Alex Albon, Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, Nicholas Latifi, and the reigning champion Max Verstappen.
