Son who is having a pretty average season in the ongoing Premier League was injured against Marseille in their Champions League game. The forward was subbed on at the half-hour mark in when his side defeated the French side 2-1 to progress to the next stage. Though his date for return to the injury wasn’t set, the London club now announced that the South Korean forward will undergo eye surgery on his fractured eye socket.

A Spurs statement read: “We can confirm that Heung-Min Son will undergo surgery to stabilise a fracture around his left eye. The South Korea international suffered the injury during the first half of Tuesday’s Uefa Champions League victory at Olympique Marseille.”
“Following surgery, Son will commence rehabilitation with our medical staff and we shall update supporters further in due course.”

South Korea is scheduled to play their opening game of the FIFA 2022 World Cup against Uruguay on 24th November, which it is most certain that Son will not be a part of.
After undergoing his surgery which aims to stabilise his fractured eye socket, the player will undergo his recovery and rehabilitation with the London Whites, thereby placing his chances at the Qatar World Cup to be very minimal.
