- Djokovic is the only player in the tournament, who is yet to face a defeat in the tournament and the 21-time Grand Slam champion has now set his eye firmly to become the undefeated champion in the tournament.
- However he enters the contest after playing out an absorbing three-setter that stretched for more than three hours against Daniil Medvedev on Friday.
- It was also a game that saw the Serbian drop a set for the first time this week.
- He began the tournament with a 6-4, 7-6 victory against Stefanos Tsitsipas. He then sailed past Andrey Rublev with a 6-4, 6-1 win.

- World No.9 Taylor Fritz has reached the semifinals in his very first shot at the tournament.
- The American originally did not qualify but as World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz pulled out of the tournament, he was able to seal a spot.
- However throughout the week he has played some outstanding Tennis. In the first match, he defeated Rafael Nadal in straight sets.
- He then lost against Casper Ruud in a close contest but he came back strongly against Felix Auger Aliassime as he clinched a 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 victory to advance to the semifinal.
- Taylor Fritz has played in semifinal of a tournament for three times this season at Indian Wells Masters, Eastbourne International and Japan Open this year and he hopes he maintains that streak in the upcoming contest against Djokovic.
