CWG 2022 India Squad – Indian Team LIST CWG 2022: The Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 is just 3 Weeks away. Indian athletes in all disciplines are giving shape to their FINAL PREPARATIONS. The games will start from July 28 and will end on August 8. India has already finalized their CWG Squads in Wrestling, Badminton, Hockey, Athletics, Table Tennis. The squad can still increase as the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has requested the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) to increase the country’s quota of sportspersons. 

“We are requesting you to consider increasing the athlete quota of CGA India to include additional six names so that their participation can be ensured in the CWG 2022,” Mehta wrote in a letter to Martin early this week.

CWG 2022 India Squad: Full India Squad announced for Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022: Check OUT Indian Team LIST CWG 2022

The Commonwealth Games 2022 will be India’s 18th appearance in the show-piece event. The following is the list of number of competitors participating at the Games per sport/discipline.

Indian BADMINTON CWG 2022: The Indian badminton players were selected after a round of selection trials in New Delhi last month. Former Commonwealth Champions P.Kashyap, Saina Nehwal both miss out of the list.

Men: Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, B Sumeeth Reddy

Women: PV Sindhu, Ashwini Ponnappa, Aakarshi Kashyap, Treesa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand

Indian BOXING CWG 2022: The boxing trials were held by the Boxing Federation of India in Patiala earlier this year.

Men: Shiva Thapa (63.5kg), Mohammad Hussamuddin (57 kg), Amit Panghal (51kg), Rohit Tokas (67 kg), Sumit Kundu (75 kg), Ashish Chaudhary (80 kg), Sanjeet Kumar (92 kg), Sagar (+92 kg)

The women’s boxing trials for the Commonwealth Games were held in New Delhi. The most well know name of Indian boxing MC Mary Kom had to withdraw from the trials due to a knee injury. But the current and new boxing queen of India World Champion Nikhat Zareen has made it the SQUAD with all the ease.

The following female boxers qualified for the CWG 2022.

Women: Nitu (48kg), Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Jaismine (60kg), Lovlina Borgohain (70kg)

Indian Women Cricket Squad CWG 2022: For the 1st Time, Women Cricket will be part of the Commonwealth Games. In 1998 one and only time Cricket was included in CWG. Indian Men’s Team played the tournament. This will be the 1st time Women Cricket is included for the games.

BCCI or IOA is yet to announce the Indian Squad for CWG 2022. Indian Women team will play against Australia, Pakistan and Barbados in the league phase before moving on to the knock-outs.

Indian WRESTLING CWG 2022: The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) conducted trials in Lucknow, Sonepat and Delhi to select the Indian squad for Commonwealth Games 2022. 6 Wrestlers each in both Men & Women Categories have made the CUT.

It is worth noting that Greeco-Roman form of Wrestling will not be played at CWG 2022.

Men: Ravi Kumar Dahiya (57kg), Bajrang Punia (65kg), Naveen (74kg), Deepak Punia (86kg), Deepak (97kg), Mohit Grewal (125kg)

Indian Hockey Squad CWG 2022: The Indian men’s and women’s teams have qualified for the Commonwealth Games 2022 by virtue of their FIH rankings.

Initially, Hockey India wanted to send their reserve teams for the Commonwealth Games 2022 as there was little turn-around time between the CWG 2022 and the Asian Games.

But now the FULL-FLEDGE Squads will participate in CWG 2022.

Indian Men’s Hockey Team for CWG 2022: Goalkeepers: PR Sreejesh, Krishan Bahadur Pathak.Defenders: Varun Kumar, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh. Midfielders: Manpreet Singh (c), Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Shamsher Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Nilakanta Sharma. Forwards: Mandeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek.

Indian Women’s Hockey Team for CWG 2022: Savita (C), Rajani Etimarpu, Deep Grace Ekka (VC), Gurjit Kaur, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Nisha, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Monika, Neha, Jyoti, Navjot Kaur, Salima Tete, Vandana Katariya, Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur, Sharmila Devi, Sangita Kumari.

Indian TABLE TENNIS CWG 2022: The Indian table tennis team for the CWG 2022 was chosen after a week-long camp at the Dravid-Padukone Academy in Bengaluru.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) running the affairs of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has chosen an eight-member Indian team and two reserve players for the CWG 2022.

Men:Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Harmeet Desai, Sanil Shetty
Women: Manika Batra, Reeth Rishya, Sreeja Akula, Diya Chitale

Manush Shah (men’s) and Swastika Ghosh (women’s) have been named as replacement players.

Indian SWIMMING Squad CWG 2022
The following swimmers will represent India at the CWG 2022. Olympians Srihari Nataraj and Sajan Prakash are the experienced swimmers in the Indian contingent.

Indian ATHLETICS Squad CWG 2022: The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) selected a 37-member Indian track and field squad for the Commonwealth Games.

Men: Avinash Sable (3000m steeplechase), Murali Sreeshankar, Muhammed Anees (long jump), Praveen Chitravel, Abdulla Aboobacker. Eldhose Paul (all triple jump), Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shotput)*, Neeraj Chopra, DP Manu, Rohit Yadav (all javelin). Sandeep Kumar, Amit Kharti (race walking), Amoj Jacob, Noah Nirmal Tom, Arokia Rajiv, Muhammed Ajmal, Naganathan Pandi, Rajesh Ramesh (4x400m relay)

*Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Seema Punia will have to prove their fitness.

Women: S Dhalalakshmi (100m and 4x100m relay), Jyothi Yarraji (100m hurdles), Aishwarya B (long jump and triple jump), Ancy Sojan (long jump), Manpreet Kaur (shotput), Navjeet Kaur Dhillon, Seema Punia (discus)*, Annu Rani, Shilpa Rani (javelin), Manju Bala and Sarita Singh (hammer throw), Bhawana Jat, Priyanka Goswami (race walking), Hima Das, Dutee Chand, Srabani Nanda, MV Jilna, NS Simi (4x100m relay)

Indian WEIGHTLIFTING Squad CWG 2022
The 12-member weightlifting contingent will be one to look out for at the Games. The contingent includes Tokyo Olympic Silver Medallist Mirabai Chanu (49kg).
