INDIA ENGLAND 1st T20 Highlights – India beat England by 50 RUNS: Chasing a big target of 199, England were blown away by India’s pace attack. Harshal Patel’s swing was too hot to handle as he removed Jos Buttler in the first over. Arshdeep Singh too troubled England batters on his debut. Then on, it was a Hardik Pandya show. He removed Dawid Malan and Liam Livingstone to break England’s backbone.
While Harry Brook and Moeen Ali stitched together a 61-run to launch a fightback but India were all over them. Yuzvendra Chahal struck twice in his third over, removing Ali and Brook. Hardik then returned get his four-fer with Sam Curran’s wicket to end England’s hopes.

- Hardik Pandya’s 51 and 4/33 were the best all-round figures by an Indian.

- 50- India’s 50-run win in the 1st T20 is the biggest margin by runs against England in England in T20s.
- 3.33: Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded just 10 runs in three overs for a wicket.
- 13: Arshdeep Singh bowled 13 dot balls in 21 legal deliveries, best on T20 debut.
- 10: Bhuvneshar Kumar bowled 10 dot balls in just 18 deliveries and conceded just 1 boundary.

Earlier, opting to bat, India were off to a fine start with an aggressive approach from skipper Rohit Sharna. While he failed to convert his start, scoring 14-ball 24, he was not alone. Deepak Hooda made an excellent start, hammering 17-ball 33. But he too failed to convert that into a big one. Then next in line was Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed 19-ball 39 and fell short of his fifty. However, Hardik Pandya (51 off 33) helped India post 198/8 while Dinesh Karthik’s 7-ball 11 too helped a little in the cause.
However, despite all the positives, what will concern India is their poor fielding. India dropped a total of three clear chances besides a couple of other catches that should have been taken.

“Great performance from ball one. All batters showed intent. Although the pitch was good, we played good shots and never got ahead of the game. But we were sloppy on the field. Those catches should have been taken. Pretty sure we will field pretty well in the coming games,” Rohit Sharma said at the post-match presentation.
