Canadian Open LIVE: Fourth seed Casper Ruud will take on Felix Auger Aliassime in a blockbuster quarterfinal contest at the Canadian Open on Friday. Casper Ruud who has been in a good form so far is eyeing his second title on hard court season this year. Meanwhile, local favourite Felix Auger Aliassime is eyeing his maiden title of the season. He has been in a good form so far as he won both his matches in straight games in the tournament so far. The match is scheduled to begin at 11.PM IST.   • Casper Ruud could have missed out on a spot in the quarterfinal of the French Open ashe had a tough game against Roberto Bautista Agut on Thursday, but the Norwegian kept his cool to win the second set tie-breaker after losing the first set and went on to win the decider to book a spot in the quarterfinal.
  • He now faces another tough opponent in Felix Auger Aliassime who has the support of the crowd and is also on a good after winning both his previous games in straight sets.
  • Ruud will once again be up for the challenge against the Canadian. Ruud missed the Australian Open earlier this year due to an injury and began the season at the Argentina Open, where he won the title.
  • He also finished as runner up at the Miami Open after losing the final against Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
  • Casper Ruud’s best outing came on clay this year, after managing a scratchy start with a second round exit at Monte Carlo Masters, he reached the quarterfinal at Barcelona Open and Bavarian International.
  • He then reached the semifinals at Italian Open and went on to win his second title of the year at the Geneva Open.
  • He carried his form into the French Open, where he became the first player from Norway to reach a Grand Slam final. He however lost against Rafael Nadal to finish as runner-up.
  • His performances made him rise up to World No.5, and he was the third seed at Wimbledon this year, despite not having gone past the first round at the tournament.
  • At the Wimbledon, he bowed out from the second round after losing to uneeded Ugo Humbert in four sets.
  • Soon, he won another clay court title at the Swiss Open, where he defeated Matteo Berrettini in three sets in the final.
  • Felix Auger Aliassime started the year at the Australian Open where he lost in the quarterfinal to Daniil Medvedev in a five-setter.
  • He then played at the ATP Rotterdam where he finished as the runner-up after losing the final to Stefanos Tsitsipas in straifght games.
  • He made his second consecutive runner-up finish at the Open 13 as he lost the final to Andrey Rublev in straight sets.
  • At the Miami Open and Indian Wells Masters, he suffered first round defeats.
  • On clay courts, he could not go past the quarterfinal in four consecutive tournaments – Barcelona Open, Estoril Open, Madrid Open and Italian Open.
  • At the year’s second grand slam tournament in French Open, he lost in the fourth round against Rafael Nadal after a five-setter.
  • He began the grass court season at the Libema Open by losing the semifinal to wildcard entrant Tim van Rijthoven in a three setter.
  • Ahead of the Wimbledon, he also reached the quarterfinal at Halle Open and lost against Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets.
  • He suffered first round exit at Wimbledon after losing to Maxime Cressy in four sets.
  • Before the Canadian Open, he reached the semifinal at Los Cabos Open. At his home tournament in Canada, being the sixth seed, he has done well so far by defeating Yoshihito Nishioka and Cameron Norrie in the first two rounds in straight sets.

Aliassime vs Rudd Head-to-Head: Both the players have met twice in the past and they have won one game each. They last met last year at the Madrid Masters in Spain with Ruud winning the contest 6-1, 6-4. Aliassime’s victory against Ruud came in the Miami Masters on Hard courts. At his home, Aliassime will have the advantage and will be entering the upcoming contest as the favourite.
