Bustillo named US news editor at WSJ

Miguel Bustillo

Miguel Bustillo, global energy and climate editor at The Wall Street Journal, is becoming its U.S. news editor.

Bustillo joined the Journal in 2008 to cover Wal-Mart and other retailers. He has been global energy and climate editor for the past nine months.

As an editor, he oversaw U.S. news coverage of the western U.S., before becoming U.S. energy editor in 2016. In that role, he helped to lead the Journal’s agenda-setting coverage of the fracking boom, the deadly California wildfires sparked by PG&E and this year’s Texas freeze. The PG&E coverage won a Loeb and numerous other awards and was a Pulitzer finalist.

Prior to joining the Journal, Bustillo spent 15 years at the Los Angeles Times, where he was a national correspondent, environmental writer and state political reporter, among other assignments.
