We fully respect and understand the Indian government’s concern and as we have been directly running the service based on stringent data security standards and monitoring. We will closely cooperate with the authorities to find ways for the users in India to keep enjoying BGMI.  In the second quarter, we broadened the user base through our own and offline collaborations in the local market, and expanded monetized content offerings, providing a battle royale experience unique to BGMI”, Bae Dong-geun said during the call.

Gaming Companies request India Prime Minister Modi

The letter, signed by founders of Outlier Games, Story Pix, Lucid Labs, Roach Interactive, Godspeed Games, Uniplay Digital, and four other companies, mentions India has been “lagging considerably in creating high skilled entrepreneurs” and global gaming giants have opted for a “long-term vision” on fostering the local ecosystem.

“While capital and infrastructure are critical to the survival and development of the industry, the leading global video gaming companies with their experience and next-generation technology are needed for establishing a robust gaming eco-system in India. Therefore, we seek a uniform and fair treatment of all entities operating in India,” said the letter. Credit to TechCrunch for reviewing the letter.

Battlegrounds Mobile India –  BGMI Ban Update

The government of India banned South Korean giant Krafton’s Battlegrounds Mobile India late last month. Before the ban, the popular title had over 100 million registered users in the country. Reuters reported that the GOI blocked the title under section 69A of the local IT law over concerns that it was sharing data with China.
