- Paula Badosa started this year by winning the Sydney International after defeating Barbora Krejcikova in the final.
- Despite performing consistently well in this season, it remains the only title she won so far in 2022.
- Being the fourth seed she now aims to lift her maiden Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon this year.
- She suffered a right calf injury at the French Open and bowed out of the French Open mid-way during her fourth round contest against Veronika Kudermetova.
- She however returned back in time ahead of Wimbledon and played at the Eastbourne International, where she faced first round defeat.
- At the Wimbledon she is in terrific form and is yet to lose a single set so far. She defeated opponents like Lousia Chirico, Irina Bara and 25th seed Petra Kvitova to enter her second consecutive fourth round at Wimbledon.

- Meanwhile former champion Simona Halep has made a good comeback this year after an injury-ravaged 2021.
- She started the year by winning the Melbourne Summer Set series and lost in the fourth round at the Australian Open. She also reached the semifinals at Qatar Open and Indian Wells.
- At the French Open this year, she faced a second round exit after losing to teenager Quinwen Zheng.
- In the grass court tournaments earlier this season she reached semifinals at both the Birmingham Classic and the Bad Homburg Open.
- Like Badosa, she is also yet to drop a set in the tournament as she has clinched victories against Karolina Muchova, Kristen Flipkens and Magdalena Frech in the first three rounds.
- Bidding for her second Wimbledon title, she faces a big challenge against fourth seed Paula Badosa.
Badosa vs Halep Head-to-Head: Both the players will face each other for the second time in the WTA tour. They last met this year at the Madrid Open with Halep winning the contest in straight sets. However, both the players are in top form at the moment and they are expected to give a tough fight. With more experience on grass, Halep might have a slight edge over her opponent.
